Valuebound, a Drupal service company providing consulting, development, training and support conducted a one day workshop at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore on 26th of this month. The company in association with Bangalore Drupal user group initiated the workshop “Drupal in a Day” which focuses on giving the first hands on experience to Drupal, the most powerful open source content management system.
With over 80+ participants the session started with ‘Introduction to Drupal’ by Rakesh of Valuebound and Sudheesh from Tata Consultancy Services. The workshop having the target audience of students who were absolutely new to Drupal, not only got acquainted with the basics of content management system and the logics of why Drupal should be used, but was also given a platform to create their own website.
The session was followed by lot of queries right from the basic “Why Drupal over WordPress and Joomla?” to “The percentage of security breach in Drupal?” making it an interactive conclave. The young audience were excited to try their first shot at the most flexible website developing platform after the introductory session. The succeeding lab session was partnered by trainers from TCS along with Valuebound. The workshop which had the agenda of getting to know Drupal, building and steering a site with Drupal saw fruitful results when students were ready to take it to the next level.
The students were thrilled to build their own site, to play with the different themes, adding new fields, familiarizing different modules giving them an overall experience to Drupal 7. Finding such a great progress within a day, Dr.Manjula of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering quoted “Thanks for the Drupal Community members especially Valuebound for making our students aware of DRUPAL, a Content Management System which includes various functionalities, content types,plugins, users and graphics management.”
Valuebound, as an active member of Drupal Community, conducts “Drupal 7 in a day” workshop so as to encourage the use of Drupal CMS and to build the Drupal community by enlarging the developer base. The key takeaways of such knowledge sharing sessions include installing Drupal & related modules.
